The type of therapy that you would encounter while seeing me is considered “responsible eclecticism”, which means that I use various types of interventions that I have been well trained in that are best suitable for you, your family, or your children. I find that having one type of intervention may not be beneficial for all individuals, families, couples, and children. Some interventions include me not just listening to your problem, but helping you problem solve different areas, using your strengths, while trying different exercises and techniques in session, and encouraging you to try some things outside of session that will help you get your goals met. You would not experience any type of "new age", "suggestive", "psycho-bable", or questionable therapy while having counseling with me.

I enjoy working with adolescents, children, couples, families, and multi-cultural individuals and families, drawing from a variety of treatment approaches to best meet each person’s particular needs, in a safe and supportive environment.

I approach each person, couple, and family as a unique and respected unit. My work is based on my belief that relationships, in every area of our lives, past and present, are one of the things that greatly affect our well-being and the potential to live our lives healthy.

I support and thrive to help others explore the values that they possess and the values that they want in close relationships.

Finally, I support the reality that part of being a great therapist is seeking and receiving great knowledge from other therapists and paraprofessionals and encourage others to utilize their support systems as well and I can help them build that.

Low Cost Counseling

The fee is $50 for every 50 minute session and is affordable compared to most standard rates. This fee does not change if it were for a couple or family and is therefore based on the length of session versus the amount of people in session. I accept checks and cash. The fee is due at the beginning of session in order to not interrupt the therapeutic process at the end. I take Victim Witness Compensation Insurance and Veterans (CHAMPVA) insurance.

What Counseling will be Like

Over the phone I would like to get a brief idea why you are coming in and this is the best time to ask me any initial questions. This usually takes only 5 minutes. During our first session I will have you read and sign an Agreement for Services form that goes over in more detail what you will encounter while in counseling. During our first session I would like to get a more in depth understanding of what is going on and allow us this time to explore your goals for counseling, what has worked in the past, as well as what has not worked. I will always check in with you and ask you how our sessions are going to make sure that I am helping you get your needs met.

Forms

In order to save time, you can click on these links below to begin the process of reading and signing these necessary forms and bring them into our first session:

Agreement for Services (Adults)

Agreement for Services (Children)

Notice of Privacy Practices (Read Only)

Couples Assessment

Each week we will meet for 50 minutes. The duration of sessions varies for each case and is therefore impossible to predict. The termination of counseling should be explored and decided between both the client and therapist. Your therapist should be someone who you can build a rapport with and who can help you make appropriate decisions in your life.

The environment is very safe, welcoming, clean, and private! You will find yourself in rooms and waiting areas like the ones below with complimentary water bottles, magazines, air conditioning, and heating. This office is wheel chair accessible.

Please Note: Please help me maintain time limits, and use your time wisely. If you must cancel or re-schedule a scheduled appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance, so I can make appropriate schedule changes. The regular fee will be charged if a scheduled appointment is missed or cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the appointment.

Christian Counseling

I have helped many Christian and non-Christian believers learn new approaches to coping with life's complexities and unique circumstances. There are moments when each of us must face situations that challenge us on an emotional, physical, and spiritual level and sometimes we just need encouragement, support, and prayer to help achieve our personal and spiritual growth. I offer a diverse set of tools you can use to enrich your life and believe that Holy Spirit will be the healer and provider of the wisdom and revelation in our sessions. I encourage you that seeking counseling is a strength and not a weakness;  in Proverbs 11:14, 24:6, and 12:14 it mentions the importance of counselors in our lives. It does not matter where your walk is with God and how much you practice Christianity and/or go to church; I want to help you, not judge you.

My belief in Christian counseling is to get you closer in your relationship with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, which will sustain you and continue to help you, while utilizing my clinical skills to help you remove and prevent problem areas in your life.

In these sessions you will experience "edification, comfort, and exhortation" with moments of prayer when necessary and with a focus on God's gifts that He has given you. It is my belief that a major part of gaining healing from our past, is knowing how important and special we are and realizing the gifts that God has given us and wants us to use, while forgiving others around us, as well as ourselves.
